For the Good of Mankind
I’m ultra-sentimental. When asked which single item I’d rescue in the event of a fire, I answered my photographs, hands down - especially the old ones of my parents, grandparents and siblings. While most children aren’t interested in stories of the old days, I’m spellbound when my mother-in-law talks about her medical school days and how she met my husband’s father.
I’ll admit, sometimes I use my awesome Photoshop skills for evil purposes, such as altering images of my friends and family for my amusement, but sometimes I use my skills for good! I can restore old or damaged photos to their former glory. Sometimes I can even improve them, like the red-tinted, washed-out photos of my youth. It’s hard to tell, but the actual colors of the image are hidden in there, and can be accentuated to look more realistic. I can also add elements to make images look more artistic, such as adding watercolor and border effects.
The holiday season is fast approaching (ugh, Christmas music!) and restored photos make beautiful, affordable gifts. Want to see more - click here, otherwise shoot me an e-mail if you're interested. |

Fantastic Frugal Gift Idea
Along with being sentimental, I can be a very thoughtful gift giver. This year, for example, I’ll be giving all of my sisters their own family trees. I won’t lie: I try to be frugal with my gift giving, because it’s really the thought that counts, after all. My family is HUGE (I have 14 nieces and nephews, and another on the way), and if I let myself get carried away, I would go broke every Christmas. This is why I give gifts that are simple, yet highly thoughtful, and will be cherished for many years to come.
If my custom photograph edits sound like something you’d like for your family or for someone special this holiday season, shoot me an e-mail and we can talk about the process and pricing.
P.S. I’m seriously considering changing the name of this newsletter to “Shameless Self-Promotion.” What do you think?

One Girl's Cakes

As much as I like to shamelessly promote myself, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce another creative individual I know. Her name is Alicia McKeand and she’s the founder of ‘one girl’s cakes’. She recently did my wedding cake and just WOW! She did an amazing job. My guests are still talking about it! She’s been baking professionally for over 3 years. Alicia honed her skills by working at Port Huron Pastry, Achatz Pie Co. and Great Bakes Station in downtown Port Huron. She currently runs ‘one girl’s cakes’ from her home, but make no mistake, this does not limit the size of the beautiful creations she can make. My cake was 5 tiers! Big or small she makes cakes for all occasions!
