Time Herald "30 Days of Art" Article by Amy Biolchini
On the first day of June, she drew a self-portrait -- the face emerging from a tree. She reminisced about her beginnings as an artist as a young girl, when all she would draw was self-portraits. (Read Full Story)

30 Days of Art
As a creatively inclined individual, I feel inspired to make art daily. The first step to producing art is the same as with any task: getting motivated, which can be a challenge. Deadlines are a good motivational tool, such as an upcoming art show or exhibit, but lately there hasn’t been anything that has inspired me to put on an exhibit. The fact that I am currently all over the place creatively doesn’t help put a cohesive body of work together, either.
Since I can’t bear the thought of tying myself to any particular theme or medium at the moment, in June I’ve decided to challenge myself to create one new piece of art everyday for 30 days. With no thematic constraints, I plan to go wild and work with whatever medium I want to play with that day, whether it is acrylic on canvas, jewelry-making, or even ballpoint pen on cocktail napkin!
My friend Tara had a fun idea that with each piece I should record the weather, my mood, and what inspired me in particular. The calendar is how you can access the art. As the days pass, the numbers will be replaced by images of the art I create that day. Once you click the image, you’ll be swooped away to my web site where you can view the piece, the details of how it came to be, and, if it really tickles your fancy, a link to purchase it!
Visit the calendar each day to view the new pieces of “30 Days of Art”. |

Community Coolness
See the blue cartoon dude? Does he look a little familiar? Susan Bennett from the Port Huron Museum contacted me about doing a mascot for their exhibit that demonstrates simple machines. She called him Simon and described him as smart, cool and somewhat mischievous. While designing him I realized I already knew someone like that. Yes, that’s right, I modeled him after my husband. Recognize him now?
Simon’s Simple Machines is now open at the Port Huron Museum. The event opened on January 28th, and will continue until April 23rd, featuring a multitude of hands-on exhibitions and family-oriented activities. Group rates are also available for 20 or more. Click here for a PDF of Simon and his sidekick Maddie. They are having a coloring contest, so have your little one color it ahead of time and drop it off when you check out the exhibit! |

Next Stop Salon Pizzaz
So...I know I said I'd have "History's Naughty Misses" on display at Salon Pizzaz on December 1st. However, did you know statistically artists are more absentminded that your average person. It's true, but give us a break!!! For me, creative energy is a wild unpredictable thing. Harnessing and utilizing it is one thing, but organizing it... I'm hopeless! That said, don't give up hope! The show will be up for your viewing pleasure as of Monday, December 8th! |

Bottle Cap Belts
A brand new edition to my fashion line...the bottle cap belt! Okay so the idea isn't completely original, but it has been improved on with genuine bottle caps instead of those chintzy manufactured ones. The belts can be made to order by selecting the color and length you want. Basic colors include red, blue & black (but other belts colors can be special ordered). Then you choose what kind of caps you want: mutli-color, same color, pop caps or beer or both. Belts start at $35 + shipping. |

Why blog?
Every once in a while I have things I'd like to share, such as commentary on an upcoming show or an event I'm involved in. Sometimes I feel inspired to express ideas and comment on the ever illusive concept of art. I may talk about artists I admire. I may post inane things like photos of my cats, or YouTube videos I've uploaded. This is also the gateway to other networking web sites I use such as Myspace & Facebook. I also might talk about my client's projects/products or events I find interesting like Studio 1219's "Art of Being a Women" month-long event.
- Studio 1219 invites patrons, organizations, restaurants and more to decorate a bra to display at Studio 1219 for the month of October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This project is designed to call attention to the importance of breast cancer screening and to raise money throughout the month of October to support the Studio’s Breast Cancer Fund. Support for...
